Frequently Asked Questions:
How is this program different from other reading programs?
The Academic Associates Reading Program sets itself apart from other phonics
programs. It is not just your usual phonics program which gives a student a few
phonics rules and you then hope they make the rest of the connections, but a
comprehensive phonics program that changes the way a student approaches every
word he/she encounters and trains their minds to be analytical while using phonics rules to sound out a word.
What kind of things does this program teach?
The Academic Associates Reading Program teaches the 44 phonetic sounds/rules of the English language. By using these rules, readers can read unknown words or vocabulary that they haven't encountered before. We know the long and short vowel sounds, but did you know that there are 5 sounds for the sound of "Y"? Or did you know that "C" does not make it's own sound, but copies "K" and "S" in words? The Academic Associates Reading Program provides its students with all of the sounds needed to become a college-level reader.
How long before my child begins to see a difference?
It varies with each student. For the most benefit and to see the most improvement we require students to meet with us 2 times per week. Most students can read 300 words by the end of Lesson 1 and complete the reading program within 30-60 hours.
How much are your rates?
Our rates are competitive with other tutoring centers. The difference is that this reading program is sequential and comprehensive. It has a beginning and and end. With the Academic Associates Reading Program most students complete the program within 30-60 hours. This means fewer hours to see improved reading skills making the program less costly than other tutoring programs. Academic Associates does not require any contracts or committments. Also, our initial reading assessment is free.
Where are you located?
